Good for snorkeling August 29, 2010

I had a great experience with this set. I ordered a size bigger than I usually would for the fins because I have the boots to slip inside the fins. The fins work well to propel me through the water. Since I'm new to water sports, the fins are great since they're short. I still feel so uncoordinated in the longer typical scuba fins.
The snorkel is wonderful. No leaking. I had a little trouble getting the mask to form a good seal, but I have a small face. Overall I'm quite impressed with the set. I looked at many snorkeling sets and I'm glad I went with this one. The hot pink color is super bright and makes it easy to be found once in the water.

I've never snorkeled in my life, so I relied heavily on Amazon reviews when I bought this set to bring along for my Caribbean vacation. True to the testaments, this set was great!
I had clear visibility with the mask and it fitted comfortably. Water leaked in the first couple of times - but I attribute that to user error. After fitting it properly against my face, water didn't seep in any longer.
The snorkel was comfortable and easy to use as well. I did get water in it (twice - possibly because I submerged the snorkel completely underwater - but I'm not sure), but it was easy to just blow it out given the purge value.
With the fins on, I felt like I propelled in the water. It helped me glide and move faster. I got a lot of sand between the toes and the soles of my feet - so I would encourage the use of booties - which I didn't buy, but will!
Everything fitted nicely in the travel bag and snuggly into my suitcase. I look forward to using this set again for my next adventure! Can't wait!

Fins and mask are great. Both are easy to adjust and fit well. The reason I'm only giving three stars is the snorkel tube. It is supposed to be a "dry tube", but does not perform that way, Every time I dive under the water, when I get to the surface, the tube is full of water. There is no way I can just start breathing normally. The first time I choked on the water made me aware of the problem. After that I tried to purge on successive dives, but the purge valve does not get rid of the water either. Maybe I just have a defective snorkel tube. But I'm not unhappy with the product as a whole, just be aware of the tube.

My husband and I bought these for our trip to Bora Bora. The idea of renting/using snorkels that have had other people's mouths on them just utterly disgusted us...We hadn't originally planned to take fins either, but these were so compact and packed so well that we did. Neither of us checked any luggage either-we were both able to fit them into our carry-ons for the two week trip! Once there, they were perfect! Great fit and seal around the face, the snorkel worked fantastically, and we ended up being so glad that we brought fins! Highly recommend these for travel and just every day snorkeling...great purchase!

Having attempted to snorkel in the past (and been terrible at it), I decided to invest in my own gear in hopes of improving my experience. The mask sealed to my face wonderfully, I could breathe easily through the snorkel and the smaller fins were very easy to maneuver around in. The fact that it is available in pink was an added bonus, and I got lots of compliments!
