Solid, simple but also outdated July 24, 2008 Ben (israel) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this this watch, i have it now for a few days, and it's simplicity, solid construction, and it's look all make you love it. but with the advantages comes the disadvantages: 1)it's heavier then the newer models 2)it's big 3)the screen is half taken by some half-functional graphics 4)you can't set the alarm with the back light on 5)it only has 1 alarm clock (other models have up to 5) 6)the battery only lasts for 2 years (by manufacture) - other can last up to 5 years. (note you cant change the battery on yourself) 7)it lacks the auto light-on option (light turns on every time you pick you arm to look at the time) 8)the buttons are metal, and not covered by plastic or rubber like in other models, i can see how dirt can get stuck there. Casio made a long way in development or their watches, and i see no reason to skimp on the 15$ or more separating between this model to others, more updated models. with that said, there is nothing really wrong with this model, it's reliable (by others confessions), it's glass is very strong, and the overall construction is extremely solid - almost to the way it will make you smash it in hard objects, just to see if it's still works. in conclusion. i had i chance to replace this one with other models, but i didn't, i preferred to save the few dollars, and stick with this one, mainly because i am looking to serve in the military with this watch, and most of the extra option (Auto-Light, 5 alarms, different time zones) are just not useful for military service. but for any other use, i recommend looking at different Casio models, do it fast, before this watch reliability will make you fall in love with it, and develop guilt for discarding an old friend.
Casio G-Shock DW6900-1V June 30, 2008 Daniel Bloom (Springfield, Missouri USA) Awesome watch! I used to have one about 10 yrs ago and lost it and finally bought another one. Tough, durable, and great for the price! I wore it snorkeling in Hawaii and have bumped it against many walls and it still looks new.
Love the G-Shock! June 15, 2008 Taw As usual, very please with the G-Shock. They are the only watches that can survive for more than a few weeks when worn by my Marine Engineer husband!
Flawless performance, one heck of a watch May 28, 2008 Zane (Atlanta, GA) I purchased this watch for ~$70 almost 4 years ago to add to my G-Shock collection and have been wearing (and abusing) it ever since. The watch is extremely robust and has never let me down. These G-Shocks are something of a true gem in the watch market. And hey, in case you need another reason to buy this tough boy, the DW6900 is part of a select group of watches (along with it's brother - the DW5900) that are flight qualified for NASA space missions! How cool is that?
Great Watch April 25, 2008 G. Dimitrov (Toronto, Ontario) In a few years I went through at least 10 watches, and this one is one of the toughest Ive had. I have a Luminox that I bought for 3X the price but I still keep on coming back to this one. It has taken more punishment then I thought possible and come out with only small scratch.
